Earlier this week, AVweb told you about a Spaniard who narrowly missed being hit by a 9-pound ball of what was believed to be "blue ice" -- the nasty mess of frozen toilet water and, umm, "other stuff" that sometimes drops from the lavatory valve of a high-flying plane. Now Madrid scientists say that projectile was only one of up to 15 basketball-sized chunks that fell in the region last week, and they may have come from a comet, not an airliner -- or maybe they're supersized hailstones. Nobody's quite sure, but chemical tests later this week may reveal the answer. Gee, it was so much more fun -- if less mysterious -- the way we heard it first.
