There is also an SVG version of this cartoon. The Adobe SVG Viewer does a great job rendering it. The cartoon was drawn in Adobe Illustrator and exported by the SVG export plugin. Unfortunately, the text was converted to outlines before export, so it's not "real" text. Links (move the cursor over the balloon or the copyright) were added by hand. (This is a nifty way to make an image map!) Some metadata was added, as well as a simple animation (move the cursor over the caption), again by hand, with a fair bit of trial and error. The W3C's SVG recommendation was helpful, as was Antoine Quint's "Digging Animation" article on XML.com (yay to Edd for being a terrific SVG advocate).
