Back in the day, Usenet was a sane and friendly place to be. I was only 13 when this message was posted to "NET.sources," and I didn't even know about the Internet until 3 years later, didn't use it until 4 years later, but I pine for the days when Usenet wasn't a toilet, all the news groups were helpful (not just the few that remain so today like comp.lang.python), and reputation really did mean something.

We live in belated times.
