Amnesty International
has released its
long-anticipated report on NATO's bombing campaign in
Kosovo. In it, Amnesty details its "serious concerns about the
extent to which NATO forces participating in Operation Allied
Force adhered to the rules of international humanitarian law
on the conduct of hostilties, specifically those laid down to
protect civilians and civilian objects." The report goes on to
defend these serious concerns in 75 pages of documentation and
argument.
If you live in one of the 19 NATO member nations -- and
chances are that you do -- you owe it to yourself to read
Amnesty's report, make up your own mind about its conclusions,
and then take appropriate action. I'll be recontacting my
Senators and Representative soon.
