N.H. Votes To Repeal Death Penalty

.....

The vote in the senate, following on the heels of the house's approval in March, is largely symbolic, because the governor has promised to veto the bill, and the 14-10 margin is not veto-proof.

In any case, it seems New Hampshire's death penalty, which is reserved for only a small number of crimes, has not only not been carried out since 1939, there are no prisoners currently awaiting execution.

Still, it's reassuring that the legislature of New Hampshire, if not the governor, has the sense to enact the laws that the people of the "Live Free or Die!" state want.
