.....
I just found out in the paper Friday that WGKA-AM (1190) is going Christian in three weeks. I had never listened to it, but I did immediately. What an awesomely cool station. They play an eclectic mix of great music (One of Elgar's "Enigma Variations," followed by Hank Williams followed by Charlie Parker). The on-air staff lives up to the recorded programming.
Stefan Fflambeau, the bogus traffic reporter who doesn't own a car, reported from the enormous stench at the University of Georgia's Sanford Stadium on Friday. He interviewed a fake source who claimed (in a put-on Scottish accent) to have found human remains under the "six or seven feet of raw sewage." There also appeared to be a pipe running into the stadium from the direction of Georgia Tech. Then Stefan closed with his customary verse libre, of which I tried to memorize a phrase. More or less it went:
"I am Sanford Field, where once silver-britched Bulldogs romped in glory, now, a cesspool, where mosquitoes and mayflies swarm, and only stench can score a touchdown."
Of course, this has proven not to draw a large audience. Too smart, I'm athinkin'.
