Dan Kinney reports:

Ralph Nader yesterday (3/8/00) spoke at the University of PA (Wharton School, no less). Students Against Sweatshops officially sponsored the event. Most of the local TV, print and radio outlets covered it. We're expecting a feature article by Murray Dubin to appear in the Inquirer shortly. We got alot of volunteers, and a local at the U of P has been established.

Nader was introduced by sitting Democrat City Councilman-at-large David Cohen (the leading progressive on City Council). He couldn't officially endorse Nader, of course, but he certainly delivered a courageous message. This is a paraphrase, but he said in no uncertain terms that he was ashamed to be a Democrat these days and that the Green Party is what the Democratic Party should be.

Innumerable progressive Democrats need a reason to vote for Nader. Councilman Cohen gave them one.
