The U.S. Department of Energy is pleased to announce a "Sun Wall" national design competition to design a technologically advanced and visually exciting solar system for the 30,000 square foot vertical south-facing wall of the The Department of Energy National Headquarters Forrestal Building, Washington, DC.

I'll probably be going to Washington, DC (our nation's capital) later this month. I'll plan on stopping by the Forrestal Building to see the site of the proposed great Wall of Ra, maybe take some pictures.

Once completed, the "Sun Wall" will be the largest such solar energy system on any government building in the United States and one of the largest such systems on any building in the world.

Of course, as with all design competitions, there's no guarantee they will actually build the thing once they have a really cool design. The prize is $20,000.
