Protests over the Diallo case outside the Justice Department
yesterday.
Clenching wallets in upheld fists, about 3,000 mostly black
demonstrators led by Diallo's parents and sister circled the
nation's highest law enforcement authority chanting; "Police
training 101; it's a wallet not a gun".

Raised wallets served as symbols of frustration with the
killing. The crowd was urged to keep their money in their
wallets to wield economic power through boycotts.
